We enter the project with critical distance and report back precise observations.

An in-house pattern maker knows the brand in depth but can develop blind spots on certain recurring problems. An external consultant brings comparison with different realities, alternative methods and solutions already tested in other production contexts. The combination is stronger than the two apart.

Most of the problems we see in fitting arise long before the fitting: in the brief and in the technical documentation. Measurements taken from the sketch instead of a real garment, padding specified without its weight, tolerances never stated, generic material references — each of these gaps turns into additional sampling iterations. A recurring part of consulting work is precisely the review of incoming documentation: the guide how to read an outerwear tech pack collects the mandatory sections and the most frequent errors we intercept.
The other typical front is the transition from the base tech pack to the industrial one: the first contains the stylistic intentions, the second the operational instructions for the manufacturer — allowances, notches, grain direction, assembly sequences. Verifying that this transition is complete before production starts is one of the highest-return reviews: correcting on paper costs minutes, correcting on a running production costs the production.
Consulting cuts across the four phases of the studio's method: it can come in at the brief (documentation review), in development (geometric verification of a third-party pattern), in prototyping (a fitting session with a technical report) or just before production (audit of marker making and fabric consumption, in coordination with the marker making service). When the audit reveals a construction problem that needs to be physically corrected, the handover to defect correction is direct: same hands, same documentation, no loss of context between who diagnoses and who corrects.

Every collaboration is protected by a confidentiality agreement signed before work begins. Production data, technical specifications and collection information are never shared with third parties nor used in other contexts.
Cost depends on scope: a single fitting session, a process audit and an ongoing retainer have different pricing structures. A quote is issued after a brief, free scoping call (15–30 minutes) — with no commitment.
It depends on the output. Document audits and tech-pack review are done remotely; live-model fitting requires physical presence — in the atelier in Botticino or at your premises.
