The brief checklist for a technical outerwear piece.

Fourteen points your pattern maker needs to know before starting the development. A checklist born on the atelier table, distilled from twenty years of work.

Why a brief checklist matters

Most prototyping iterations on a technical outerwear piece originate from missing information in the initial brief. Not from wrong choices — from choices that were never communicated. The pattern maker has to guess, infer, ask halfway through development. And every mid-development question adds a week to the schedule.

This checklist is the working document we use at Atelier modArch to set up every new project. We share it because a clear brief saves everyone time and money — even when we are not the pattern maker on the job.

What's in the checklist

  • The 14 essential technical points, with real-world examples
  • The minimum glossary to talk to the pattern maker without ambiguity
  • The 5 questions that head off most pointless iterations
  • A printable template to attach to the creative brief

One A4 page, no filler. Made to be printed and kept next to the fashion sketch.

How to open it

No form, no email to leave. Open the checklist with the button on the right: it's a page ready to read, print or save as PDF straight from the browser.
